He earned a degree in Industrial Design from PUC-Rio in 1985, an MBA in Marketing from IAG/PUC-Rio in 1991, and an MSc and D.Sc. in Production Engineering from UFRJ in 1994 and 2003, respectively. He was a Visiting Scholar in Brown University’s Department of Cognitive, Linguistic & Psychological Sciences, supported by a CNPq postdoctoral scholarship (2017–2018). Since 1995, he has coordinated the Laboratório de Gestão em Design within the D.A.D. Post-Graduate Programme. In 1997, he authored "Strategic Design: Industrial Design Integration and Action Within the Companies” through the Brazilian Design Program. Alongside Professor Jorge Lopes, he established the Núcleo de Experimentação Tridimensional (NEXT) in 2011, focusing on experiments with emerging technologies such as 3D printing, scanning, tomography, parametric design, and eye tracking. His research areas include strategic design, innovation, design policy, management, entrepreneurship, project methodology, visual thinking, and training.
