This is the third in a series of four books developed within the <\/span>Distributed Design<\/span><\/a> Platform, co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union. Distributed Design allows creatives, designers, makers and innovators to participate in the creation of a new model of production and consumption, in which \u201cbits travel globally, while atoms stay locally\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The title of the book \u2018Viral Design\u2019 is based on Enrico Bassi\u2019s article which can be found in the final chapter (pp 194-199). The name was inspired by the rapid mobilisation of designers and makers during the crisis. As the virus spread, designs of personal protective equipment (PPE) were globally distributed, designed and produced. Hence, the title \u2018Viral Design\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

Polifactory had contributed with the article written by Massimo Bianchini, Patrizia Bolzan and Stefano Maffei titled \u2018Designing in the Post-Covid Era\u2018 (pp 24-33) as the opening act of the second chapter of the book.<\/span><\/p>\n
