Consider it DD-day for mass production and game over for the ‘take, make, dispose’ model! This is the second in a series of four books developed within the Distributed Design platform. Distributed Design (DD) allows creatives, designers, makers and innovators to participate in the creation of a new model of production and consumption, in which “bits travel globally, while atoms stay locally”. Including the alphabet of Distributed Design and the industrial revolution 4.0, explaining the concepts often heard but not always easy to understand.

The Distributed Design project is funded and supported by the Creative Europe program of the European Commission. Each of these four books (published annually) will explore the advances of the platform. In the first book, ‘Fab City: The Mass Distribution of (Almost) Everything’ (2018), it’s been introduced the overarching themes supporting the idea of Distributed Design as a new practice emerging from the digital revolution in fabrication, communications, and computation. This book serves as an entry point into the state of the art.

In the second book, there are two of our project: Fabcare and Next Steps.

Consideratelo il DD-day per la produzione di massa e game over per il modello ‘take, make, dispose’! Questo è il secondo di una serie di quattro libri sviluppati all’interno della piattaforma di Distributed Design. Il Distributed Design (DD) permette a creativi, designer, produttori e innovatori di partecipare alla creazione di un nuovo modello di produzione e consumo, in cui “i bit viaggiano a livello globale, mentre gli atomi rimangono a livello locale”. Include l’abc del Distributed Design e della rivoluzione industriale 4.0, spiegando i concetti spesso ascoltati ma non sempre facili da capire.

Il progetto di Distributed Design è finanziato e sostenuto dal programma Creative Europe della Commissione Europea. Ognuno di questi quattro libri (pubblicati annualmente) esplorerà i progressi della piattaforma. Nel primo libro, ‘Fab City: The Mass Distribution of (Almost) Everything’ (2018), sono stati introdotti i temi generali che sostengono l’idea del Design Distribuito come una nuova pratica che emerge dalla rivoluzione digitale nella fabbricazione, nella comunicazione e nel calcolo. Questo libro funge da punto d’ingresso nello stato dell’arte.
