Clara Acioli
Visiting Staff
Born in Rio de Janeiro and based in Milan, Clara Acioli is an artist, researcher and designer who graduated from the School of Design of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She specialized in digital fabrication, textiles and biology through the Fabricademy program (Barcelona/São Paulo) and is doing her PhD in Design at PUC-Rio, the same institution where she completed her masters. Her works and interests are in the intersection of the arts, design and biology, and she has been researching and experimenting with the idea of simpoiesis – making-with other living organisms – and the bioethical implications of it in the Biodesign field.
Clara is a researcher at the Socialenvironmental Design Laboratory Ecotopias at PUC-Rio and at LADA (Design and Anthropology Laboratory) from ESDI/UERJ. She also collaborates with NANO (Nucleus of Arts and New Organisms) and Floresta-Cidade, both laboratories from UFRJ. For the semester of 2026.1 she’s doing an exchange at Polifactory, in Politecnico di Milano, collaborating with the project: Design For Peace Ecosystems.
