Destex Summer School

Polifactory had the pleasure to host the activities of the last day of Summer School organized within the Erasmus+ project Destex – Industrial and Creative Design in Advanced Textiles Manufacturing.

The project staff organized a 4-day Summer School, taking place between the 21st and 25th June 2021.
The DESTEX SUMMER SCHOOL covered different topics related to Advanced Textiles (from sustainability to digital fabrication, from smart textiles to business opportunities), with a combination of hands-on exercises, virtual activities, university workshops/labs tours, and lectures by companies. Each day of the Summer School was organised by one of the four universities participating in the Destex project: University of Borås, LCI Barcelona, Department of Design (Politecnico di Milano) and Design School Kolding.

The Destex Summer School had a hybrid setup and involved 20 students from the four different universities: the event took place physically and simultaneously at each University taking part in the Destex project. The four universities were connected online, sharing the same agenda, learning activities, and teaching staff. More importantly, students from different universities teamed together with the support of online platforms and tools for a distributed design and learning experience.

The last day was organized and coordinated by Venere Ferraro and Stefano Parisi (Department of Design of Politecnico di Milano) – with the support of Patrizia Bolzan, Massimo Bianchini and Andrea Ascani (PoliFactory staff).

All students had a virtual tour to Polimi Design Lab System and Polifactory, followed by a presentation by the company Scilif.
In the afternoon, students engaged with an hands-on activity by laser-cutting textiles to fabricate accessories and products.
