Hands on! 64K Computer Club Experience

Hands-on!

The experience of the 64K Computer Club

and the new forms of experimental – peer-to-peer learning at the Politecnico di Milano.

The event shares and tells the 64K Computer Club: an authentically “polytechnic” experience, born from the collaboration between Polifactory, NESLab, and PoUL, that is the makerspace, the Networked Embedded Software laboratory and Open unix Labs of the Politecnico di Milano. In 2016, a group of students and teachers passionate about the Internet of Things, making, hacking, interaction design and physical computing constituted the Computer Club 64K inside Polifactory, living the makerspace as a place of multidisciplinary aggregation and hands-on experimentation between electronics, computer science and design. In two years, 64K organized hackathons and educational initiatives, collaborated on research projects, developed open source hardware, participated in national and international competitions and conferences. These experiences will be told in the first person by the members of 64K through presentations and live demonstrations, bringing out dynamics, values, potential, problems, and curiosity. The 64K experience story is the starting point for activating a pragmatic discussion on the initiatives they can design and organize in the Politecnico di Milano to attract students and encourage them to live experimental, multidisciplinary, community and challenging experiences of innovation: from peer-to-peer design education to competitive scientific research, to challenges with the world of company.
