Abstract

As new technologies appear, we become increasingly disconnected from our surroundings. We are being devoured by the infinite amount of information that we receive through our phones and other digital devices. When we are commuting to a new location, we mainly rely on our phones and the visual or auditory information provided by Google Maps or other equivalent navigation tools. It draws our attention, which occurs when we need to be aware of our surroundings and not lose our connection with the environment since this raises our risks of meeting harmful circumstances and missing out on new attractions.

What we intended to accomplish with this thesis was to enable individuals to utilize a tactile navigation system that would assist them in finding their way, whether on the same level or in three dimensions. Reduce distractions and maybe generate new experiences to improve the urban experience.

On the other hand, we are seeking to design a wearable that can give three-dimensional information while remaining intact on the skin and without interfering with the user’s activities. As a result, we investigate various settings where users may be comfortable, and data can be interpreted with the least amount of cognitive strain.
